do the public talks and wt study tickle the ears of the jw faithful with buzzwords and phrases like jehovah's happy people and t rue christians?
if so, do you know any other phrases or buzzwords that the wtbts uses to give the dubs that fuzzy feeling?
"Honesthearted ones"
"Jehovah's clean people"
"Spiritual Paradise"
"Jehovah provides the proper food at the proper time"
"Aren't you happy to be a part of Jehovah's chosen people" (followed by a round of applause, especially at DC's)
"Jehovah's righteous laws are a protection"
and similar grandiose and presumptuos sayings

The older couples said we were jealous of the bride, but "not to worry, you'll find someone too, just as nice as <nameless MS creep>". I said, "I hope not." They continued to say we were both jealous. The feeling was actually nausea, not jealousy!

I never knew of anyone who was sexually abused in the org that I can recall. I know of some physical/psychological abuse but it wasn't until I started surfing the web that the truth was revealed to me.
I think it's the most disgusting and damaging thing that can be done to a child. A three year sentence for child molestation? Come on! I say - LOCK "EM UP AND THROW AWAY THE KEY!!! .

Most often quoted scripture by the elders at my first congo. was: "It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God". Had me scared s**tless! Made me a good little dubbie for a long time .
i remember them trying to get a bunch of sisters to go prison witnessing.
i felt very uncomfortable about the whole thing.
i voiced my concerns to an elder and was told we were only witnessing to the women and we were safe.
I know of 'Christians' who minister to inmates. I think it can be a very loving and compassionate thing to do. But - Jdub style ... that would only make people feel horribly guilty (if they bought into the propaganda) and ostrasized.
I know a young man who was raised a dub and brought up on murder charges in his late teens. The 'brothers' ministered to him in jail. He beat the charge and came out a full fledged fanatic for all of about 6 months. God baptized, then dfd, been in and out of prison every since. Wonder if he still studies .
25 years total .
15 years baptized .
also, does the resentment for jw's grow in a linear or a exponential manner with time spent as a jw?.
Studied for a year on and off - wanted to get into the 'ark' before the big A and rushed to be baptized. Stayed in for 11 years straight, became irregular for the last year - got dfd at the 12 year mark. Basically gave up my late teens, early twenties to the borg . Glad I got out when I did. I still have a lot of life left to live

i just got df'd last week and am unsure of how i feel about it.

Welcome to the board SUSU! It's wonderful having you here because on this board, you are among 'true friends'. People who don't judge others based on their beliefs or lack thereof.
Also, you are truly blessed to have this 'break' from the troof at such an early age. Take advantage of the down time to do some research on the org and decide for yourself whether it is THE TRUTH, and if you want to spend your life dedicated to an organization. Many on this board have wasted their youth in the org only to find out that the truth we were taught to believe in, wasn't really the truth at all.
Warm hugs susu ... you're going to be fine. You have your whole life ahead of you and now, the decisions are in YOUR HANDS, not the hands of some impersonal body of governors who are far removed from the realities of life.

when i get home at night, the last thing i want to do is look at a computer screen.
I'm glad to know I'm not alone . Even when I take my laptop home I rarely go on-line. I get enough computer eye/back/wrist strain in my 8 hours of plurk (play + work).
i need to get these professional prom pictures to the girl i took to prom and i'd like to leave some kind of impression like "it was a fun night" since we don't really talk much..being she has a boyfriend now.
i still have our tickets....should i staple one to the envelope and just hand all of it to her at lunch?
orrrr...should i hand it to her while she's walking with her boyfriend?
I think it's a nice gesture to send her a picture along with the ticket. She should have a momento of her prom night. Don't do it in front of the bf, might get her in hot water. She'll appreciate the gesture without the drama.
i find it interesting that the chickens have come home to roost for wts.. just as they have allowed no dignified way to exit the org, without disgrace, there seems to be no way for them to gracefully apologize for past (errors???).
just think of the recent mass exodus of faithful that has come about with each major doctrine change.
so many have been ruined by devoting their lives to the gb, that even if there was a sincere effort to correct things, i believe that the vast majority of the current membership would just revolt.. it's just a matter of time before the entire house of cards comes tumbling down.. so, whaddya think?.
Amen u/d! The wolf cry has gone out way too many times to be ignored and/or blamed on the R&F. People are getting tired of waiting for the end to arrive.

i touch on this subject in another post but i felt the need to take it further...back in the day jw's went out in fs but i don't know about today.... i live in a big city....the territory my congregation has is small because there are so many cong.
here.. our bookstudy only had maybe four blocks at the most to work.
my ex husband and i would go to the meetings and hear talk about fs and all the wonderful and experiences and the joy oh joy in being out in the ministry.
